What should your first Medium post be about ?

You have no idea how important it is to get your first medium post right, the first time, on your first try. Otherwise, why continue? Why finally take the first step towards improving your writing or documenting what seems to be like an important period of your life.

Obviously it isn’t, not at all. To make it even more meta, this is my first post and I wanted it to be about this very subject. For some reason it seemed funny to me, I hope it will to you to.

Starting writing on Medium can seem a bit daunting, but it feels like it is the right step for me, since you can only get good at somethings by practicing it over and over. Writing is such an important skill that I have left behind, even though I’m student. But writing papers about finance or marketing doesn’t feel like the right outlet to experience with different styles or let your thoughts loose on that mighty blank shit of paper (or screen).

Hence you might ask, “What the hell should I write for my first blog post on medium ?” My advice would be to let your mind loose and see what happens, a bit like your first journal entry on a brand new moleskine. Feeling like Tolstoy writing on that little black book that has now become so iconic.

Even though you might want to write about personal fiance, self development or the trendy topic of cryptocurrencies, I suggest as an exercise to write about nothing and give it a title. It’s a good way to get you started without overthinking.

In short you should speak your mind for your first post, it’s a good first step and hopefully you will enjoy the process. For me at least, I found it to be the best way to stop ruminating ideas and actually get going. Because the most important is to get going and to keep going.

Thank you to you all
